I haven't done that with a turkey but I have done something horrible in the kitchen. I put a pot on the stove to boil water and then the phone rang. It was my mom and I got caught up talking and even went in the basement for a while. I thought I could smell something funny so I crept upstairs wondering what it was. It was aweful! I walked into the kitchen and the pot had actually started to melt to the stove top. The smell was melting metal. Oh my gosh was it horrible! When I lifted the pot it actually strung with a metal ribbon. I had never heard of such a thing. It took days to get the smell out of the house, lol.
